Microsoft Pelorus Microsoft Pelorus was a subscription based CD-ROM Magazine (the first commercial CD-ROM Magazine- "E-Zine" in Australia), developed by Crossroads Multimedia on behalf of Microsoft's advertising agency, for Microsoft Australia. Pelorus was first published in October of 1994, and was published bi-monthly for 6 issues. In the order of 15,000 production CD-ROM's were produced. Pelorus typically contained approximately 6,000 topics (or pages) of text based information such as brochures, white papers, product descriptions, product announcements, and pricing, 30 minutes of video, 30 minutes of audio, and some 400-500 graphics. The magazine section of Pelorus contained original articles written around topics of interest in the IT/MIS arena, and contained text, graphics, audio, and video as appropriate for the Interactive Publishing environment. It was totally developed on Beta versions of Windows 95, and subsequently on the released version of Windows 95. It incorporated the necessary links from the CD to The Microsoft Network (MSN), for access to Microsoft's on-line topic areas, such as Communique and product areas.
